“Art is a nation’s most precious heritage. For it is in our works of art that we reveal to ourselves and to others the inner vision which guides us as a nation. And where there is no vision, the people perish.”

Calculate your Unweighted GPA- from Mr. Truong:
I know there have been some questions about how to calculate your unweighted GPA. I'm attaching (linked at bottom of email) an excel sheet where you can enter your grades for each semester and it will calculate your GPA.
For your "Normal/Non-Pre-AP/AP" classes you put those grades on the left side and for your "Pre-AP/AP" classes you enter them on the right side.
After you calculate everything, make sure the weighted GPA that comes up matches up with your weighted GPA on your transcript. Then you'll be able to look at your unweighted GPA. This should give you a good idea of how competitive you are for schools and scholarships.
Best,
Mr. Truong

The following Discussion questions are to be answered after viewing the video and sent to Mrs. Landry via Email PRIOR TO the end of class ([email protected]). All answers should be in complete sentences. This will count as a quiz grade.
Professional Email format required.
Discussion Questions
1. What impact does audience have on communication? How would a conversation with a supervisor differ from one with a customer? Make a list of all of the different kinds of audiences you communicate with at work (remember, PVA is also your work environment), and then suggest one strategy that is specific to communicating with that audience.
2. When is it more appropriate to use the phone instead of texting or e-mailing? When is it better to have a face-to-face conversation? How does the subject of your communication impact the way you communicate?
3. How has relatively recent technology (e-mail, texting, blogging, social media) changed the way we communicate? Has it made us more or less effective communicators? Why? What can you do to make sure you are using communication technology effectively at work?
4. What is the difference between a good listener and a bad one? What can you do to be a better listener, at work or otherwise?
